Students from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Sur have launched an awareness campaign aimed at empowering individuals with disabilities and promoting their integration into society and the workforce. The initiative, named "Kufu," carries the slogan "Potentials Deserve to Be Seen" and was officially unveiled earlier this month.

The campaign’s logo, revealed by Dr. Rashid bin Nasser al Matani, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTAS Sur, embodies the concept of social integration. It features a circular puzzle representing unity and cooperation among diverse community members, including those with various disabilities such as wheelchair users and individuals relying on walking aids. Additional elements within the logo, including a handshake and a computer, signify equality, collaboration, and the role of technology in facilitating professional opportunities for people with disabilities.

Dr. Rashid emphasized the importance of such efforts, stating that campaigns like Kufu reflect the commitment of young people to fostering a society that acknowledges the skills and potential of every individual. He framed support for people with disabilities not only as a social responsibility but also as a valuable investment in the broader community.

One of the campaign’s organizers, Jeanan al Alawi, highlighted the initiative’s core message during the launch. She asserted that the campaign seeks to communicate clearly that individuals with disabilities possess capabilities deserving of equal opportunities in all areas of life.

The Kufu campaign reflects a growing movement in Oman to increase visibility, inclusion, and support for people with disabilities, aligning with broader global goals to ensure equal rights and access to employment and social participation. The organizers hope the initiative will encourage positive change in societal attitudes and policy frameworks regarding disability inclusion.
