The General Directorate of Endowments at Qatar’s Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs distributed 4,000 gifts to children across 19 mosques nationwide as part of its ‘Eid Joy’ initiative during Eid Al Adha prayers. The program aimed to foster a festive atmosphere and promote the social and humanitarian values associated with the holiday.
Implemented during the recent Eid celebrations, the initiative sought to enhance the community impact of endowments by engaging families and children, bringing smiles to their faces and reinforcing the spirit of joy tied to the religious occasion. Officials emphasized that such efforts align with the broader mission of endowments in supporting various societal segments, especially during events of spiritual and social significance.
Eng. Hassan Abdullah Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, described the ‘Eid Joy’ initiative as an extension of the Directorate’s ongoing community engagement. He noted that the program is designed to promote the culture of endowments and strengthen societal values connected to Eid Al Adha by sharing the celebratory joy with younger generations.
Al Marzouqi highlighted that the initiative reflects the Directorate’s commitment to maximizing the societal role of endowments, positioning them as a sustainable development tool that benefits humanity through various humanitarian activities. He added that the program also plays a role in fostering community cohesion.
The Directorate expressed its intention to continue launching effective initiatives that respond to the evolving needs of the community while encouraging positive values. Al Marzouqi also extended gratitude to donors who contributed to the success of the Eid initiative, particularly acknowledging those supporting the Masraf Waqfi for Family and Childhood for their important role in enabling these community programs.
