Culver City is establishing itself as a key center for artificial intelligence in the film industry with the hosting of the fourth annual “AI on the Lot” summit. Taking place this week at Culver Studios and its surrounding venues, the two-day event is recognized as the largest AI media conference worldwide.
Culver Studios, currently leased by Amazon MGM, has a storied history with iconic productions such as "Gone With the Wind" and "The Andy Griffith Show" filmed on its backlot. The city, home to major entertainment companies including Apple, Amazon MGM, and Sony, is leveraging this legacy to promote innovation at the intersection of technology and filmmaking.
This year’s summit runs today and Thursday, featuring presentations from leading figures in the industry. Among the keynote speakers are filmmaker Paul Schrader and Albert Cheng, head of AI Studios at Amazon MGM, who are expected to share insights on the evolving role of AI in media production.
Earlier in 2026, the Culver City Council formally endorsed the event by granting $1,000 to AI LA, the organization responsible for coordinating the summit, thereby making the city an official sponsor. This support reflects Culver City’s strategic efforts to position itself as a hub for AI-driven media and storytelling.
