Citizens and residents across the country marked Eid al-Adha on Sunday with morning prayers, family gatherings, and various community events. The Ministry of Endowment (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs coordinated extensive arrangements to facilitate worshippers, opening 733 mosques and designated prayer grounds nationwide to accommodate congregational prayers.
The ministry implemented special measures to ensure smooth crowd movement and accessibility at prayer sites. Following the prayers, many individuals exchanged greetings and visited relatives and friends, reflecting the festival’s emphasis on togetherness and communal harmony.
Despite the daytime heat, numerous families and groups traveled to popular outdoor destinations such as Al Khor Park, Dukhan, Mesaieed, and several beaches to spend the day together. Both government and private organizations declared holidays for Eid, allowing families and children to participate fully in the celebrations.
An Indian expatriate family attending an event at Dukhan Community Centre noted that the improved regional situation enabled them to reconnect with friends living outside Doha, a visit they had been unable to make during the Eid al-Fitr holidays due to earlier regional disturbances.
At Al Khor Park, visitors enjoyed group activities and games, with some participants noting the heat but appreciating the opportunity to gather under shaded areas before leaving in the afternoon.
In addition to private gatherings, various public and cultural programs were organized throughout the country. The historic Old Doha Port is hosting four days of Eid festivities, featuring traditional performances and entertainment aimed at families. Shopping centers and leisure venues have also introduced Eid-themed promotions and events.
The Workers Support and Insurance Fund is conducting a series of public events under the banner “Eid al-Adha Celebrations 2026 for Communities,” held during the first three days of Eid at multiple locations including Asian Town in the Doha Industrial Area, Kreeq Sports Stadium near Barwa Village, and the Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor Industrial Area.
Katara Cultural Village is another key venue for Eid activities, with fireworks displays over the waterfront serving as a highlight among ongoing festivities. Most events and celebrations are expected to continue through the weekend, providing a broad range of opportunities for residents and visitors to participate in the holiday spirit.
