The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) marked the first day of Eid Al Adha with a vibrant program that harmonized cultural heritage and festive celebration, attracting visitors across generations to its Corniche area in Doha. The event featured a range of artistic performances and family-oriented activities designed to engage audiences while reflecting Qatar’s longstanding traditions.
The day’s activities commenced with the traditional Qatari Ardha, an expressive folk dance accompanied by chants that underscored the nation's cultural identity. Further enriching the atmosphere, a military parade presented a visually striking element to the festivities. In keeping with annual customs, children received “Katara Udhya,” a local gesture symbolizing the spirit of generosity during Eid.
Attendees, particularly families, welcomed the diverse offerings and praised Katara’s capacity to create an environment that blends entertainment with authentic social customs. Many highlighted the foundation’s focus on safety and inclusivity, noting how the event successfully preserved cultural values within a contemporary festival setting.
As evening fell, a fireworks display illuminated the Doha skyline at 8:30 p.m., drawing enthusiastic responses from celebrants and providing a colorful conclusion to the day’s events.
Looking ahead to the remainder of the holiday, Katara announced that its Al Thuraya Planetarium, located in Building 41, will present three space-themed shows daily starting from the second day of Eid. Scheduled for 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m., these presentations aim to offer audiences an educational experience exploring the cosmos, including stars, planets, and other astronomical phenomena.
