Manchester United incurred costs nearing £17 million related to the departure of former head coach Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff. Amorim was dismissed in January, after which Michael Carrick took over as interim head coach. Following his appointment, Carrick was confirmed as the permanent head coach after guiding the team to a third-place finish in the Premier League and securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

The club reported an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months ending in March, a significant turnaround from a £3.2 million operating loss during the same period the previous year. CEO Omar Berrada expressed optimism about the club’s recent developments, highlighting Carrick’s performance since taking charge. “Michael Carrick has done an excellent job in the 17 games he has overseen, and we are delighted that he will continue as head coach,” Berrada stated.

The decision to part ways with Amorim, coupled with the financial improvement and renewed competitive success, marks a notable phase in Manchester United’s ongoing efforts to stabilize and rebuild its squad after a period of transition.
