A man has been sentenced to four years in prison for a series of sexual assaults on women traveling on London Underground trains. Salman Yousaf, 46, admitted to eight offences involving women who were asleep during the attacks, which took place on the Jubilee and Central lines between 2017 and 2021.
Yousaf was initially identified after being incarcerated for an unrelated crime in 2024. While he was already serving time, the Metropolitan Police provided information to British Transport Police (BTP), which prompted a review of unsolved incidents on the Tube. This investigation linked Yousaf to multiple cases of sexual assault and offences of outraging public decency.
Following his admission of guilt, Yousaf was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court last week. A BTP detective involved in the case, Iryna Cuthbert, emphasized the profound impact the assaults have had on the victims and praised their courage in coming forward.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about passenger safety on public transportation and the challenges law enforcement faces in identifying perpetrators who target vulnerable individuals. Authorities continue to encourage victims to report similar incidents to aid in investigations.
