Johannes Radebe, the South African professional dancer known for his appearances on the popular dance competition show, has confirmed that he will continue dancing despite taking on a new presenting role. Radebe, who was partnered with actress Alex Kingston in last year’s series, is set to join Emma Willis and Josh Widdicombe as part of the show’s revamped presenting team beginning in September. This trio will succeed longtime hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Following the announcement, some fans expressed concern that Radebe’s new position might mean the end of his time on the dance floor. However, Radebe addressed these worries directly, stating that he has no intention of retiring from dancing. “The question I’m getting asked the most is, ‘Are you not going to dance any more?’” he said, emphasizing that dancing remains an essential part of his life. He added, “For it to be just taken away would be a travesty for me.”
While he did not disclose specific details, Radebe hinted that plans are underway to keep him actively involved in dance segments of the show. “There’s a plan in action, that’s all I’m going to say. You’re going to see JoJo!” he remarked.
The changes to the presenting lineup mark a significant shift for the long-running program as Daly and Winkleman have been prominent faces for many years. The new trio’s debut is scheduled for the upcoming series launch in September, with audiences eagerly anticipating how the dynamics will evolve. Radebe’s continued commitment to dancing suggests he will maintain a strong presence both on and off the dance floor as the show enters its next stage.
