French crystal maker Baccarat is showcasing a new collaboration with British designer Bethan Laura Wood during Milan Design Week, marking the brand’s return to the event after a five-year absence. The centerpiece, a chandelier named Mille Fleurs, features Wood’s signature use of vibrant decorative motifs crafted into modular ring shapes made of crystal. These interlocking rings suggest abstract, futuristic facial forms and are designed to be versatile, allowing the installation to expand or contract to suit various spaces.
Wood described the chandelier’s segmented design as a way to create a fluid, adaptable structure that maintains the luxury heritage associated with Baccarat’s craftsmanship. The Mille Fleurs chandelier is available in configurations ranging from a single ring to multiple rings tailored to specific spatial requirements.
The installation is presented alongside Baccarat’s “Crystal Crypt,” an immersive exhibit created by artist and curator Emmanuelle Luciani. Crystal Crypt assembles some of the French company’s most iconic crystal pieces within a striking environment dubbed a “galactic cathedral.” Baccarat, founded in 1764 under the authorization of King Louis XV, highlights this exhibition as an expression of its storied expertise in crystal making.
The exhibition runs from Tuesday through Saturday at 10 Via Marco Formentini in Milan, inviting visitors to experience both the Mille Fleurs chandelier and the Crystal Crypt installation. Baccarat’s chief executive, Laurence Nicolas, emphasized that the collaboration with Wood exemplifies the company’s commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and innovation.
