American tennis player Frances Tiafoe is offering a reward for the return of his racquet after it was stolen at the French Open. The incident occurred on Thursday following Tiafoe’s hard-fought victory in the second round against Hubert Hurkacz. The match lasted four hours and 43 minutes, with Tiafoe winning in five sets: 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-7 (1-7), 6-4.
After securing the win at Court 14, Tiafoe went to celebrate with fans courtside, holding his racquet as supporters embraced him. However, when he returned to the court, the racquet was missing. The player later addressed the situation on social media, appealing for the fan who took the racquet to return it. He offered two tickets to his next match as a reward for its safe return, describing the atmosphere on the court as “unreal.”
The racquet holds sentimental value for Tiafoe, who was clearly disappointed by the loss amid his victory celebration. Organizers and fellow players have yet to comment on the incident, and the racquet’s whereabouts remain unknown. Tiafoe is due to continue his campaign at Roland Garros in the subsequent rounds.
