At least one person was killed and 13 others injured in a stampede during a mehndi ceremony held by a popular TikToker in Pakistan’s Punjab province. The event took place at a stadium on Daska Road in the Sialkot district, where organisers had extended an open invitation to the public.
Authorities reported that a prize draw announced at the gathering attracted an unexpectedly large crowd, contributing to the chaotic situation that resulted in the stampede. Emergency services responded to the scene, providing medical assistance to those injured.
Police have registered a case naming eight suspects and 45 unidentified individuals in relation to the incident. So far, six people have been arrested, with officials continuing their search for the main suspect, who remains at large. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to establish the precise circumstances leading to the tragedy.
