A fatal accident occurred Monday afternoon when a Tesla carrying three children crashed into a café patio in Simi Valley, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The collision took place near a Target store at approximately 2:30 p.m.
The victim, a 79-year-old woman from Agoura Hills, was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck outside the Urbane Café. Emergency responders from the Ventura County Fire Department found six people injured, including the deceased woman. Five others sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
According to authorities, the Tesla driver lost control of the electric vehicle, causing it to veer onto the sidewalk. The vehicle struck the pedestrian before continuing through outdoor planters surrounding the café’s patio. It ultimately came to rest amidst tables and umbrellas arranged in the dining area.
