The upcoming Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship, set to take place next week at Yas Links, will mark a significant milestone in youth golf development in the United Arab Emirates. The event is expected to help the DP World Tour and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council exceed the landmark of introducing golf to more than 10,000 children and young people through various community initiatives tied to the Championship and the Team Cup.

This milestone coincides with the UAE’s Year of Family, a national campaign emphasizing unity and growth. It reflects ongoing efforts by both organizations to make golf accessible to young people across the emirate, offering opportunities ranging from introductory experiences to potential career pathways in the sport.

At the grassroots level, the Future Falcons Programme, jointly run by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Emirates Golf Federation, targets children aged four to 16. This program focuses on teaching the fundamentals of golf in an engaging and enjoyable setting. Its activities encompass specialized golf sessions, school visits, coaching clinics, and participation in major sporting and community events across the country.

Participants who advance within the Future Falcons Programme can compete in the Future Falcons Skills Challenges, a series designed to test and refine their abilities. The culmination of this competition takes place during the Championship week at Yas Links, where young golfers have the chance to interact with some of the world’s leading players.

Additionally, the Championship incorporates a schools programme that integrates golf into the classroom environment. Delivered in cooperation with M+C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment Middle East, this initiative involves tournament representatives visiting schools in the weeks leading up to the event. These visits include assemblies introducing pupils to golf and providing them with opportunities to try the sport during the school day.

Together, these programs reflect a strategic and sustained approach to nurturing interest and participation in golf among the UAE’s youth, underscoring efforts to promote healthy lifestyles and foster sport as a community-building tool.
