Authorities are investigating the poisoning deaths of a dozen cats in the town of Bargoed, near Caerphilly. The incidents have alarmed local residents, including widow Pauline Tucker, 72, whose cat Storm was found dead two days after disappearing from her home. Tucker described the situation as distressing, expressing concern that the poisonings appear to be intentional.

"This year there have been 12 cats poisoned near me — too many for it to be a coincidence," she said, highlighting the pattern of animal fatalities in the area.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) has urged pet owners in Bargoed to remain vigilant. The organization advises monitoring pets closely and seeking immediate veterinary attention if poisoning is suspected. An RSPCA spokesperson extended sympathy to affected owners and called on anyone with information to come forward, either by contacting the charity or the police.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the poison and to prevent further harm to animals in the community. Residents are being encouraged to report suspicious activity as authorities work to address the situation.
