Preparations are well underway for the 18th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is set to take place from November 9 to 21 at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. Organizers are expecting nearly 12,000 competitors from around the world, marking a significant increase in participation.

During a recent planning meeting chaired by Mohamed Salem Al-Dhaheri, vice chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and chairman of the event’s organizing committee, officials emphasized efforts to accommodate the growing number of athletes and academies. Al-Dhaheri highlighted the championship’s steady expansion and its evolving status as a premier event for leading international jiu-jitsu practitioners.

The committee is also advancing preparations for the opening ceremony and working closely with partners to broaden the event’s global reach. “Our focus is on delivering the championship to the highest standards, reflecting Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a major hub for the sport,” Al-Dhaheri said.

Other key attendees at the meeting included Mohamed Hussain Al-Marzoqi, a federation board member and vice chairman of the organizing committee, as well as Fahad Ali Al-Shamsi, secretary-general of the federation. Together, they outlined logistical plans to manage the influx of participants and media covering the championship.

Since its inception, the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has seen consistent growth, attracting top athletes and academies worldwide. This year’s edition aims to continue that trend, further establishing Abu Dhabi as a central venue for jiu-jitsu competitions on the international stage.
