The 10th Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF) will present a comprehensive exploration of Singaporean photography from 2000 to 2025 through seven exhibitions, showcasing the work of 47 artists. Running from October 16 to January 31, 2027, the festival offers a multifaceted look at photographic practices amid a landscape saturated with images.

Under the theme “In My End Is My Beginning,” inspired by poet T.S. Eliot’s *Four Quartets*, the exhibitions highlight diverse approaches to contemporary photography across multiple venues. At Figment Club House, participating artists engage with the aesthetics and historical context of colonial imagery. The SingPost Geylang Post Office exhibition delves into issues of gender and intimacy. Meanwhile, the Guoco Midtown Public Art Wall features works addressing Singapore’s urban development, including Darren Soh’s notable 2004 nocturnal landscape series *While You Were Sleeping*.

A significant highlight of the festival is the solo exhibition *Singapore Index* by acclaimed filmmaker Tan Pin Pin, held at ShopHouse by Deck. Departing from her well-known films, Tan presents 63 photographs taken in 1991 that document the social fabric of Singapore. During a year-long return visit to Singapore after studying abroad, she captured nearly 2,800 images across a range of community events and rituals, such as funerals, weddings, school outings, and life at the void deck. Tan described the series as a systematic visual record of the nation at a pivotal moment, bridging her experiences as a former schoolgirl and a young adult exploring familiar spaces with new perspective.

Also hosted at ShopHouse by Deck are exhibitions featuring photobooks by local and international artists, providing further insight into photographic storytelling.

The festival offers a mix of free and ticketed events across venues in the city. For more information on schedules and locations, interested visitors can refer to the official SIPF website.
