The Indian Community School, Senior, hosted Gyanotsav 2026 on Thursday, October 29, showcasing nearly 2,500 exhibits under the theme ‘Sustainable Spectrum.’ The event transformed the school campus into a vibrant display of creativity and innovation focused on sustainability, featuring decorations that incorporated local elements such as the Kuwait Towers.

Gyanotsav 2026 served as a platform for students to present practical applications of their classroom learning through experiments, models, and creative displays. The exhibition included contributions from approximately 1,500 students across 24 departments, covering diverse fields such as Science and Technology, Mathematics, Fashion, Health, Arts and Culture, Humanities and Languages, Life Skills, and Global Perspectives.

The event’s inauguration was led by Chief Guest Ram Veer, Regional Officer and Deputy Secretary of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), alongside Chairman of the Board of Trustees Shaikh Abdul Rahiman, Special Invitee Jaffeer, school principals, and senior officials. The ceremony began with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a prayer song and the Kuwaiti national anthem. Veer and Principal Dr. V Binumon jointly performed a symbolic lamp lighting, after which Veer activated a model of a man spinning a wheel, marking the event’s official opening.

Dr. Binumon, who designed the House Garden Initiative launched during the event, highlighted the importance of fostering scientific curiosity, independent thinking, and innovation among students. The initiative encourages student groups, or houses, to develop and maintain collections of potted plants, guided by house captains and mentors, to deepen their connection with nature. The initiative was formally inaugurated by Abdul Rahiman. He later also opened the exhibition rooms by cutting ribbons, allowing students, parents, and visitors to explore the wide range of projects on display.

Veer praised the school and students for their dedication, emphasizing exhibitions as a vital means to connect learning with real-world experience. He referenced the National Education Policy’s role in promoting holistic education, fostering scientific temper, and encouraging innovation.

The event also recognized students participating in the National Energy Saving Campaign – Waffer, organized by Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. Winners of competitions in Comic Strip Making, Poster and Policy Making, and Ad Film Making received medals and certificates from the chief guest. Recipients included Saarthak M Karekar, Nathania Fernandez, Ayesha Rehmatullah, Tapasya Sunish, and Christina Linsu in the Comic Strip category; Meenakshi Warrier, Mallikalakshmi, Aarav Shrivastav, Varnika Prabhu, and Micaiah Jacob for posters and policies; and Daris Basheer, Devarsh Praveen, Vinitra Vinod, Teresa Sunny, and Lovis Pothen for the Ad Film segment.

The event’s cultural program featured a classical dance celebrating India’s heritage, a performance by the school choir Swaranjali, and a dance titled ‘Rhythm of Earth’ that highlighted nature’s harmony. Musical and Punjabi bhangra performances added vibrant cultural touches. The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Susan George, Head of the Physics Department and Joint Convenor of Gyanotsav.
