The central level of the 27th Traditional Myanmar Cultural Performing Arts Competition 2026 commenced on October 22 in Nay Pyi Taw, with events taking place across designated venues in the capital. The competition features various categories highlighting Myanmar's rich cultural heritage and traditional performing arts.

U Nay Min Tun, Chairman of the Yangon Region Competition Organizing Committee, conducted on-site visits to several venues to observe and support participants from Yangon Region. At the Myanmar International Convention Centre, he monitored performances in the modern singing category for female contestants aged 15 to 20 and 10 to 15, who are enrolled below the basic education level.

He subsequently attended the basic education men’s Hsaing Waing ensemble competition held at the National Library in Nay Pyi Taw. The Hsaing Waing ensemble is a traditional Burmese musical group, central to Myanmar’s cultural expression.

Later in the day, U Nay Min Tun visited the No. 3 Transit Centre to oversee preparations by Yangon Region contestants competing in the traditional free-verse poetry category. During his visit, he provided guidance aimed at enhancing the participants’ readiness and performance quality.

The ongoing competition aims to preserve and promote Myanmar's cultural traditions by encouraging young artists to engage in various forms of traditional performing arts. It serves as a platform for nurturing talent and sustaining Myanmar’s artistic legacy at both regional and national levels.
