Three Myanmar transport and customs associations have formalized a cooperative agreement aimed at improving the country’s land transport and customs clearance processes. On September 8, representatives from the Myanmar Highway Freight Transport Services Association (MHFTSA), the Myanmar Container Truck Association (MCTA), and the Myanmar Customs Services Association (MCBA) gathered at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Yangon to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The signing ceremony was attended by chairpersons, officials, and executive committee members from the three organizations, as well as invited guests. The agreement establishes a collaborative framework to enhance the efficiency and speed of goods movement across various logistics stages, including port handling, container transport within cities, highway freight operations, and border gate procedures.

One of the key objectives of the partnership is to reduce delays related to customs clearance and paperwork by streamlining processes and improving coordination among the associations. Additionally, the MoU emphasizes cooperation in developing and integrating digital systems to support Myanmar’s broader Digital Transformation initiatives.

The associations also anticipate that the collaboration will strengthen their collective voice in addressing operational challenges faced by business owners in the sector. By presenting unified policy recommendations to the government and relevant authorities, they aim to contribute to advancing the country’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) and fostering a more competitive transport and logistics environment.
