The Inquirer Group of Companies honoured 30 sustainability initiatives at the 2026 Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards held on July 22 at the Sheraton Manila Hotel. Now in its second year, the awards programme recognises projects that demonstrate leadership and measurable progress in advancing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices in the Philippines.
Sandy Prieto-Romualdez, chairperson of the Inquirer Group of Companies, emphasised that the awards serve as more than a form of recognition. She described the event as a platform promoting positive change by highlighting initiatives that generate lasting impact within Philippine communities. Prieto-Romualdez further stated that integrating ESG principles is essential not only for the future of business but also for fostering a sustainable and inclusive society.
Among the 30 winners, 19 initiatives received Gold awards, while 11 were granted Silver awards. Additionally, two companies achieved the Grand Winner distinction, reflecting the highest overall scores from the judging panel and setting new standards for ESG excellence in the country.
Most of the Gold awardees, with the exception of those in the Governance category and the Water Management & Efficiency subcategory, will proceed to represent the Philippines at the upcoming Asia ESG Positive Impact Awards slated for November in Malaysia. This opportunity positions the recognised initiatives to compete on a regional stage, further promoting best practices in sustainability across Asia.
