Seven people, including four members of the same family, were killed in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh city on Thursday afternoon. The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the Gondropa area, near Bangladesh Bank on Akua Bypass Road, according to Mohammad Shibirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station.

The victims from one family were identified as Mofazzal Hossain, his mother Rashida Begum, his daughter Marjina, and Marjina’s five-year-old son Minan. The family lived in Dari Hamidpur village in Jamalpur Sadar’s Nandina area and were traveling to Gazipur at the time of the crash, police said.

The other three victims were the auto-rickshaw driver, Suruj Ali, and passengers Akram Ali and his wife Momtaz Begum, all residents of Jamalpur Sadar.

According to eyewitnesses, the Rajib Paribahan bus was en route from Jamalpur to Dhaka when it collided with the auto-rickshaw, which was heading in the opposite direction towards Muktaggaccha. The force of the impact severely damaged the auto-rickshaw, resulting in the deaths of all seven occupants.

Authorities recovered the bodies and transported them to the morgue at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for further examination. The bus involved in the accident was impounded by police. However, the driver and helper of the bus were not present at the scene and have not yet been detained. Law enforcement officers are actively working to locate and arrest them as investigations continue.
