Four committees of Qatar’s Shura Council convened for their first meetings on October 21, marking the beginning of the second ordinary session of the council’s second legislative term, which also corresponds to its 55th annual session. During these meetings, each committee elected its deputy chair by acclamation, in accordance with Article 30 of the council’s internal regulations.
The Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee, chaired by Khalid bin Ghanem al-Ali, selected Salem bin Rashid al-Muraikhi as its deputy chair. The Health, Public Services and Environment Affairs Committee, under the leadership of Abdullah bin Nasser bin Turki al-Subaie, elected Ali bin Ahmed al-Kaabi as deputy chair.
The Education, Culture, Sports and Media Affairs Committee, chaired by Khalid bin Ahmed al-Obaidan, appointed Issa bin Ahmed al-Nasr as deputy chair. Meanwhile, the Social Affairs, Labor and Housing Committee, led by Sultan bin Hassan al-Dhabt al-Dosari, chose Ahmed bin Ibrahim al-Malki to serve as deputy chair.
These appointments set the stage for the committees’ work during the current legislative session, aligning with the council’s procedural framework and internal governance. The Shura Council, Qatar’s advisory legislative body, undertakes oversight and consultative roles across various sectors, contributing to the legislative process and policy discussion within the state.
