A 70-year-old retired postal worker accused of slashing a woman’s face in a Brooklyn subway station was released without bail following a court appearance on Sunday. Eric McCoy faced a felony charge of assault with intent to cause harm with a weapon, along with three misdemeanor counts, according to court records.

The felony charge carries a potential sentence of up to seven years in prison. Despite the severity of the charges, which made him eligible for bail, McCoy was freed pending further proceedings. During his arraignment at Brooklyn Criminal Court, he entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.

The incident, which occurred in Brooklyn, prompted an investigation by local authorities. Officials from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office did not respond to requests for comment. The case remains under judicial review as prosecutors and defense prepare for upcoming hearings.
