An 87-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man were wounded in a shooting Friday afternoon in the Bronx, New York City police reported. The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of East 224th Street and Barnes Avenue in the Wakefield neighborhood.

The woman was shot in the neck, while the man sustained a gunshot wound to the hip. Both victims were transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where they were reported to be in stable condition. Authorities believe the elderly woman was hit by a stray bullet. It remains unclear whether the 18-year-old was an intended target, according to police sources.

Following the shooting, three 16-year-old boys were apprehended on Saturday in connection with the incident. Their names have not been released due to their status as minors. Two of the suspects face attempted murder charges, and all three have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
