A 90-year-old astrophysicist was seriously injured after being pushed from a New York City subway train in an unprovoked attack. Dr. C.G. Wang was reportedly shoved off a southbound F train at the Lexington Avenue and East 53rd Street station several weeks ago after asking a fellow passenger to move so he could exit the train.
The assault left Wang with multiple broken bones, including injuries that require a hip replacement surgery, and he remains hospitalized as he recovers. Authorities released a surveillance image of the suspect on Wednesday, describing him as wearing a black jacket and a black baseball cap. The individual fled the scene immediately after the incident and has not yet been apprehended.
The New York Police Department is actively seeking information related to the case and has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect. The attack has raised concerns about subway safety for elderly passengers and prompted calls for increased vigilance on public transit systems. Officials have not yet announced any motives behind the assault.
