Dax Hall, a 6-foot-1 point guard from Carlsbad, California, has officially signed with the University of New Mexico (UNM) to join the Lobos for the upcoming basketball season. Hall, who is the younger brother of UNM freshman shooting guard Jake Hall, arrives with a strong high school résumé after being named the CIF San Diego Section Player of the Year. During his senior season at Santa Fe Christian School, he averaged 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 3.4 steals per game.

Unlike his older brother, Dax brings a distinct style to the court. Speaking on his playing approach, Hall described himself as a facilitator and tenacious defender who is ready to step up and score when necessary but prioritizes setting up his teammates first. Though he sees some parallels with Uriah Tenette—a former Lobo known for his defensive prowess—Dax emphasized that his game has unique elements that will add a different dynamic when he joins the Lobos.

Hall expressed enthusiasm about working under head coach Eric Olen’s system, praising its free and open style of play that suits his skills. He noted the presence of strong shooters on the roster, which he believes will create excellent spacing on offense and provide an environment where he can thrive.

The upcoming season will mark the first time the Hall brothers will share the court as teammates after attending different high schools. Beyond basketball, Dax shared lighthearted insights about his friendly rivalry with Jake, revealing that while he dominates in golf, he concedes that his brother is the better surfer.

Off the court, Hall is contemplating a future in business finance, drawing on a strong aptitude for numbers developed during high school. He also acknowledged the influence of assistant coach Michael Wilder, a fellow California native, in his decision to commit to UNM. Hall humorously noted that plans for an In-N-Out Burger near the team’s home venue, The Pit, only reinforced what was already a clear choice to join the Lobos.

As the family's support gears up for the season opener at The Pit, Dax joked that their mother might alternate wearing jerseys representing both sons or possibly sport a double-sided jersey to back them equally. With high expectations surrounding his collegiate debut, Hall is poised to contribute meaningfully to the Lobos’ quest for success.
