J. Rae’s Bakery has reopened in Fort Worth, returning to the city where it was originally founded nearly two decades ago. The bakery resumed operations on July 16, 2026, with a new location on West 7th Street, marking the brand’s first presence in Fort Worth since its original storefront was sold in 2013.

Founded in 2008 by Jana Howell, J. Rae’s gained popularity for its decorated cookies and has maintained a loyal following. The revival is led by Audrey Dixon, Howell’s niece, who expanded the brand to Dallas in 2021 before bringing it back to Fort Worth. Dixon highlighted the significance of reestablishing the bakery in its original home city, noting the special connection tied to its history.

The new Fort Worth site occupies approximately 1,700 square feet and features the bakery’s recognizable aesthetic, including black-and-white stripes and pink accents. The business continues to focus on hand-decorated sugar cookies as its signature product, alongside a variety of other baked goods such as cupcakes, cheesecakes, cake balls, cookie cakes, and traditional cookies.

Dixon emphasized the bakery’s commitment to both appearance and taste, stating that flavor remains the top priority despite the intricate decorating work involved. J. Rae’s offers custom orders for events ranging from birthdays and parties to corporate gatherings and other celebrations.

The bakery now operates two locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area: the new Fort Worth store at 3330 W. 7th St. and a Dallas site at 5600 W. Lovers Lane, #143. Customers can also access information and place orders through the bakery’s website.
