A full-scale replica of the Yuan dynasty Buddha of Medicine mural from Guangsheng Temple in Linfen, Shanxi province, is now on display in Beijing following two years of collaborative restoration efforts between Chinese and American experts. The original mural, measuring approximately 15.1 meters in length and 7.52 meters in height, is housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

The painstaking project involved a team from the Chinese National Academy of Arts, who made multiple trips to New York to study the original masterpiece directly. Their work aimed to reproduce the intricate details and colors of the Yuan dynasty (1279–1368) mural, a culturally significant artwork depicting Yaoshi fo, or the Buddha of Medicine.

The replica was unveiled at the China National Arts and Crafts Museum, where it is now accessible to the public. This undertaking represents a notable example of cultural exchange and international cooperation in the preservation and appreciation of historic art. The mural’s recreation underscores ongoing efforts to reconnect with and celebrate China’s heritage through scholarly and artistic collaboration.
