Belmond’s Venice Simplon-Orient-Express has introduced a new luxury rail itinerary connecting Paris to Amalfi, offering travelers an extended three-day journey through the French and Italian Rivieras. The route features stops in cities such as Lyon, Cannes, Florence, and Rome before reaching Pompeii, followed by a two-night stay at the Belmond Hotel Caruso in Ravello.

The train’s vintage 1920s Art Deco carriages have been meticulously restored to evoke a sense of historical elegance. Accommodating around 100 guests, the experience encourages formal evening attire reminiscent of the Downton Abbey era, including ball gowns and tuxedos, while daytime wear is smart casual. Sleeping options vary from Historic Twin Cabins with convertible beds and shared bathrooms to Grand Suites equipped with private bathrooms and showers.

Guests onboard can enjoy full-service dining for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea, complemented by a bar car featuring live piano music that remains open until the last passenger departs. The train departs Paris on the morning of April 22 and arrives in Pompeii the following afternoon, where passengers may opt for guided tours or proceed directly to their accommodations.

The Belmond Hotel Caruso, housed in a restored 11th-century palace, offers a range of amenities including the newly opened Adagio bar, which specializes in botanical cocktails, and the Il Pantaleone restaurant, featuring multiple tasting menus. Alongside fragrant gardens, the hotel provides complimentary daily mini-cruises, as well as activities such as cooking classes, painting lessons, and boat tours along the Amalfi Coast. Its renowned infinity pool, appearing to blend into the sky, serves as a centerpiece for relaxation, while yoga sessions add a meditative touch to the stay.

Following its debut in the spring of 2026, the Paris to Amalfi route on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express will be available once annually, with bookings for the 2027 season already underway. The itinerary offers a blend of scenic travel, historical ambiance, and luxury accommodations for those seeking a distinctive experience through some of Europe’s most iconic locales.
