Omani rally driver Abdullah al Rawahi is set to compete in the fifth round of the 2026 FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC) at the Jordan National Rally, scheduled for Friday at the Dead Sea. Al Rawahi, who claimed victory in the previous edition alongside his Jordanian co-driver Atta al Hamoud in a Škoda Fabia R5, enters the event aiming to continue his strong performance this season.
Al Rawahi was unable to participate in the 2026 Lebanon International Rally due to regional security concerns. Instead, he opted to compete in the Jordan National Rally to gain additional experience with his new vehicle and to further refine its setup. His focus is on adapting the Škoda Fabia R5 to his driving style, enhancing the car’s technical performance, and achieving the optimal balance and dynamics needed for upcoming competitions.
In comments ahead of the event, Al Rawahi highlighted the importance of competing regularly to familiarize himself with the car’s capabilities and to identify areas for improvement. Given that the vehicle is relatively new and has not been involved in many rallies this year, continuous development and tailored adjustments remain critical. Al Rawahi expressed confidence in his preparation and underscored his ambition to secure victory at the Jordan National Rally, following his earlier success.
