Aberdeen Football Club has secured the futures of two promising young players, Alfie Bavidge and Alfie Stewart, by extending their contracts for an additional year. The two academy graduates, aged 20 and 19 respectively, both spent the preceding season on loan at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, playing key roles in the club’s successful campaign in League One.
During their loan spells, Bavidge, a striker, and Stewart, a midfielder, contributed to Inverness CT’s achievement of the League One title, which earned the team promotion back to the Scottish Championship. Their performances demonstrated their development and value, prompting Aberdeen to offer contract renewals to retain them within their squad.
Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson highlighted the players’ commitment and professionalism as factors leading to the extensions. He stated that both Bavidge and Stewart had exhibited strong work ethic and the right mindset, which warranted continued investment in their growth.
The one-year deals reflect the club’s ongoing strategy to nurture homegrown talent while providing opportunities for these players to progress through gaining experience in competitive matches. Both players are expected to push for greater involvement with Aberdeen’s first team in the upcoming season as they build on the momentum gained during their time at Inverness CT.
