Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi is currently handling over 93,000 passengers daily and nearly 500 flights each day, reflecting a notable increase in travel demand ahead of the summer holiday season, according to Abu Dhabi Airports. Between June 26 and June 30, the airport’s average daily passenger numbers and flight volumes surpassed those recorded during the same period last year, signaling ongoing growth and recovery in the emirate’s aviation sector.

During this five-day timeframe, Zayed International Airport connected travelers to more than 100 destinations worldwide, with plans to introduce additional routes in the coming months. The airport’s operator attributed the rise in passenger traffic to sustained travel demand, the expansion of its airline network, and strong performance by Abu Dhabi’s home carriers, complemented by increased services offered by international airline partners.

A key factor supporting the airport’s ability to manage higher passenger volumes is its newly opened terminal, which began operations in November 2023. This facility has enhanced operational efficiency through improved processes, including biometric-enabled passenger processing, facilitating faster and smoother passenger flows.

Abu Dhabi Airports emphasized that ongoing investments in infrastructure, strengthening airline partnerships, and enhancing the passenger experience are central to its strategy to position Abu Dhabi as a leading global hub for aviation, trade, and tourism. With more than 100 destinations currently served, further route expansion is planned as airlines continue to boost connectivity between the UAE capital and major international markets.

The announcement coincides with preparations by UAE airports for one of the busiest travel periods of the year, as airlines report strong demand for summer holiday travel on both regional and international routes.

Abu Dhabi Airports manages five commercial airports within the emirate: Zayed International Airport, Al Ain International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport, Delma Island Airport, and Sir Bani Yas Island Airport. Collectively, these facilities handled over 33 million passengers during 2025, underscoring Abu Dhabi’s growing role as an important international aviation gateway.
