Abu Dhabi’s development success should be assessed by the positive effects its projects have on residents’ lives, rather than merely the scale of construction, according to Dr. Abdulla Humaid Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Department of Energy. Speaking at LIVEX 2026, he highlighted the shared commitment among UAE citizens to contribute to their city’s growth, noting that many skilled professionals opt for government roles to serve the community.

Dr. Al Jarwan emphasized the critical role of government in establishing regulatory frameworks and policy standards that enable Abu Dhabi to expand rapidly while adapting to global changes. This distinctive approach, he suggested, sets Abu Dhabi apart from other cities.

Mohammad Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism, Abu Dhabi, stressed the significance of social cohesion in the emirate’s progress. He pointed out that the UAE maintains strict prohibitions against bigotry, racism, and religious intolerance, underscoring the inclusive values that underpin the society.

Officials at the event framed liveability and investment as deeply interrelated rather than separate issues. Abu Dhabi offers fundamental universal attributes—including safety, education, health care, and cultural richness—that residents seek regardless of their country of origin. Beyond these essentials, the availability of opportunity plays a crucial role in attracting people to the emirate.

“People come here because it’s a land of opportunity. It’s not the only place for opportunity, but it’s a place where opportunities can truly be listened to and truly be activated,” Al Mubarak said, highlighting the environment’s receptiveness to growth and innovation.
