Qatar Foundation’s Academic Bridge Program (ABP), operating under its Pre-University Education (PUE) division, has been granted full accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). This marks the first time a Supplementary Education Center in Qatar has received recognition by this international accreditation body.
The accreditation follows an extensive evaluation process that involved a thorough self-assessment and an on-site review by experienced educators. The evaluators measured ABP’s performance against established standards for Supplementary Education Centers, with particular focus on the quality of student learning and well-being.
Qatar Foundation described the accreditation as a significant milestone in ABP’s ongoing efforts to enhance academic quality and educational assurance. It emphasized the importance of continuous self-evaluation, periodic review, and data-driven improvements across the program.
Abeer al-Khalifa, President of PUE at Qatar Foundation, said the accreditation underscores the foundation’s commitment to educational excellence. She highlighted the collective dedication of ABP’s leadership, faculty, and staff, noting the rigorous learning experience provided to students. Al-Khalifa added that the accreditation strengthens ABP’s role in equipping students for success in higher education and in their future careers.
Dr. Saheim al-Temimi, Director of ABP, described the accreditation as a testament to the program’s commitment to quality education and its culture of continuous improvement. He credited the efforts of faculty, administrative staff, and other stakeholders in fostering student success and academic rigor. Looking ahead, al-Temimi emphasized the program’s dedication to providing education that enables students to realize their aspirations and contribute positively to their communities.
Alana Steward, International Consultant for WASC, welcomed ABP into its network of Supplementary Education Centers, praising its focus on student learning and well-being. She noted that ABP offers distinctive pathways to university education and prepares students for success beyond graduation.
The evaluation team’s report cited several strengths of ABP, including a clear mission oriented toward facilitating students’ transition to university and future careers. The program’s positive outcomes, such as university acceptance rates and academic progress, were also commended. Additionally, the review highlighted ABP’s collaborative leadership, student-centred culture, and strong academic support structures. The program’s partnerships with local and international universities, commitment to professional development, and data-driven approach to continuous improvement were also recognized as key contributors to a supportive learning environment for students and staff alike.
