The Seychelles Investment Board (SIB) reported significant progress in accelerating foreign direct investment (FDI) approvals in 2025, with a particular focus on projects funded by the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The board supported a total of $24.5 million in UAE-backed initiatives last year, reflecting enhanced efficiency and strategic collaboration.

Anne Rosette, CEO of SIB, emphasized that the board’s evolving vision centers on positioning Seychelles as an attractive destination for global investors. The agency prioritizes aligning government development objectives with investor requirements, acting both as a facilitator and custodian for investment interests.

In 2025, the increase in FDI was driven by an uptick in the number of projects assessed and a faster turnaround in approvals. SIB improved its coordination with various counterpart agencies to address information gaps that previously slowed decision-making processes. By proactively sourcing and sharing data, the board enhanced the investment environment’s responsiveness and transparency.

Rosette highlighted the growing partnership between Seychelles and UAE investors, particularly through sustainable development initiatives. The creation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Investor Map aims to channel private capital into environmentally and socially responsible projects. This platform not only promotes sustainability but also supports the strengthening of Seychelles’ institutional capacity to manage and attract investment.

Seychelles is described as entering a transformative phase, where strategic planning is essential to capitalize on its economic potential. Key challenges outlined include building investor trust, fostering a business-oriented culture, and implementing de-risking measures to make investment opportunities more appealing. Developing and promoting bankable projects across priority sectors remains a central focus to drive future growth.

Through these efforts, SIB seeks to position Seychelles as a competitive and reliable investment hub in the region, leveraging partnerships with entities like the UAE to support sustainable development and economic diversification.
