The mother of former New South Wales police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon has been granted bail following allegations that she attempted to influence a witness in her son's pending murder trial. Coleen Lamarre, also a former officer with the NSW Police, was arrested in April and charged with one count of doing an act intended to pervert the course of justice. She had been held in custody since her arrest and has yet to enter a plea.
During a bail hearing held via audio-visual link from custody in the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday, the 63-year-old was granted conditional bail. Family members attending the hearing reportedly reacted with relief upon the court’s decision. Outside the courtroom, Lamarre’s defence lawyer, John Walford, described her as “relieved” by the outcome. Meanwhile, her husband declined to comment when approached by media.
Beau Lamarre-Condon, 30, remains behind bars awaiting trial on charges relating to the deaths of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. He was arrested in February 2024, four days after the bodies of the two men were discovered at a property near Goulburn in the Southern Tablelands region of New South Wales. Lamarre-Condon is accused of using his police-issued firearm to kill Baird and Davies at a residence in Paddington before placing their bodies into surfboard bags and transporting them to the remote property.
He faces charges including domestic violence-related murder and break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. The former officer has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to stand trial in September. The case has attracted significant public attention due to its serious nature and the involvement of a former law enforcement officer.
Authorities have not released further details about the specific allegations against Coleen Lamarre concerning witness interference. The upcoming trial will explore the circumstances surrounding both the killings and any potential attempts to obstruct justice during the investigation.
