French singer and actor Patrick Bruel has cancelled a planned 35-date tour following charges of rape. The 67-year-old entertainer is currently under investigation in connection with four separate allegations involving sexual offenses. Bruel has denied any wrongdoing.
The tour cancellation comes amid growing public and official scrutiny. Several mayors from towns scheduled as tour stops had publicly stated that Bruel would not be welcome in their municipalities. The cancelled tour had generated approximately €10 million in ticket sales, which Bruel may be required to return as a result of the cancellation.
Investigations into the allegations remain ongoing, and no verdict has been reached. Bruel’s legal representatives have maintained his innocence while the case proceeds through the judicial system.
