Nigel Havers, the British actor known for his roles in television and theatre, reflected on his career, family life, and future projects in a recent interview. Best recognized today for his appearances on the comedy panel show "Celebrity Gogglebox," Havers revealed he has never actually watched the program, despite the positive feedback he receives from fans. “People are coming up to me and saying, ‘Oh, you’re so funny in Celebrity Gogglebox!’ And I go, ‘Really?’ Because I haven’t even seen it. I just sit there with Julian Clary, laughing,” he said.

Havers recounted a pivotal moment earlier in his career, when he had high hopes for a role in the BBC adaptation of H.E. Bates’s book "Fair Stood the Wind for France." Confident he was a perfect fit given his age and familiarity with the story, he auditioned only to be passed over for the role. The disappointment taught him to avoid fixating on any single job offer. “Now, I’m always amazed if someone offers me a job. I never go in with any expectation at all,” he explained.

On the personal front, Havers is a grandfather of four. He has one daughter from his first marriage and remains close to his current wife, Georgiana. He frequently tours with her during his one-man show, “Nigel Havers: Talking B*ll*cks,” noting she appears on stage occasionally, though she does not speak to avoid complicating the performance financially. The couple recently adopted a teetotal lifestyle after Havers experienced a chest infection and found the taste of alcohol unpleasant. “I wasn’t a big boozer, but at the start of the year I had a chest infection and the taste of alcohol was horrible. I haven’t had a drink since,” he said. Both he and Georgiana now abstain from alcohol, with Havers describing his new routine as “boring” but admitting he does not miss drinking.

Looking ahead, Havers is preparing to relaunch his one-man show this October and will also return to the London Palladium stage for his eleventh pantomime. This Christmas, he will appear in a production of "Cinderella," which will feature comedians Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders as the Ugly Sisters. Havers praised the pair, calling them “so funny and so sweet,” but also mentioned looking forward to teasing French during performances. Additionally, the series "Golden Boys," in which he stars, is set to stream on Viaplay via Amazon Prime starting Monday.
