Malaysian actress Jacquelin Ch’ng has publicly reconciled with her younger sister Mona following a dispute sparked by comments Jacquelin made about their late mother during the TVB programme War of Diviners. The disagreement emerged after Mona criticized Jacquelin for what she described as “inaccurate” remarks concerning their mother’s passing.
Jacquelin, who is based in Hong Kong, acknowledged the tension but emphasized that the issue was resolved through communication. “It’s fine. We’ve communicated. It was just a small matter, and once the feelings were ironed out, that was it,” she said. She added that disagreements are natural among siblings and stated she harbored no ill will toward her sister.
Mona took to social media to address the comments, challenging the portrayal of their mother’s death. She asserted that their mother, Datin Kong Yuk Chu, passed away peacefully and without suffering, as confirmed by medical professionals. Additionally, Mona disputed suggestions that Jacquelin had been responsible for caring for her siblings during their upbringing, explaining that they were largely independent with the help of domestic staff.
Their mother died of an illness on August 25, with funeral services held from August 30 to September 1 in Kuala Lumpur. Their father, Datuk Bill Ch’ng Chong Poh, also succumbed to an illness in 2023 in Hong Kong.
The exchange highlights differing perspectives within the family regarding personal and sensitive matters brought to public attention. However, both sisters appear to have moved past the dispute following their recent reconciliation.
