Adam Fantilli scored a power-play goal 59 seconds into overtime to secure a 2-1 victory for the Columbus Blue Jackets over the visiting Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday night. The winning goal came shortly after defenseman Shea Theodore was called for a holding penalty on Matthew Knies, giving Columbus a man advantage.
Fantilli’s decisive goal was a sharp-angled one-timer from the bottom of the right circle that deflected off a pass from Charlie Coyle, beating Vegas goaltender Carter Hart just inside the near post. The goal marked Fantilli’s third of the season.
In addition to Fantilli’s game-winner, Denton Mateychuk also scored for the Blue Jackets, while Kent Johnson contributed two assists. The win snapped Columbus’s two-game losing streak and improved their early-season record. The Golden Knights were held to a single goal, despite an active effort in front of their home crowd.
The game featured strong defensive play and disciplined efforts by both teams until the overtime period, where the penalty against Theodore proved costly. Columbus capitalized quickly, demonstrating sharp execution on the power play to end the contest.
