The Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank (MADB), operating under the Ministry of Finance and Revenue, announced on October 5 that it will offer additional loans at an enhanced rate to farmers practicing sequential cropping beginning the second week of October 2026. This initiative aims to encourage increased cropping intensity and improve overall agricultural production in Myanmar.

For the 2026-2027 fiscal year, MADB has been providing loans for monsoon, winter, and premonsoon cultivation at rates averaging twice those of the previous fiscal year, in line with government policy to support the agricultural sector. The newly announced scheme targets farmers cultivating 10 major crops, including paddy, maize, groundnut, sesame, sunflower, black gram, green gram, pigeon pea, long staple cotton, and sugarcane.

Farmers intending to pursue sequential cropping during the upcoming winter season are encouraged to contact their local MADB district or township branches for loan arrangements and further details. This measure is part of broader efforts by the government and financial institutions to bolster agricultural productivity and support rural livelihoods amid ongoing economic challenges.
