Advent International has raised $30 billion across its global buyouts strategy and a new mid-market fund, positioning it as the leading private equity capital raiser for 2026. The Boston-based firm, headquartered in the Prudential Tower and majority owned by its partners, exceeded its initial target by securing nearly $27 billion for its 11th flagship fund, Advent International GPE XI, making it one of the largest buyout funds ever assembled globally.

This fundraising success comes amid a broader slowdown in the private equity industry, where many firms face challenges in raising new capital. High interest rates have complicated portfolio valuations and discouraged asset sales, limiting firms' ability to return capital to investors. As a result, investors have become more discerning, focusing their commitments on a select number of private equity firms with proven exit capabilities.

John Maldonado, a managing partner at Advent, highlighted the firm’s strong performance despite market headwinds. “Despite a challenging year for exits across the market, 2026 has been among the firm’s best years ever, yielding approximately $13 billion in realizations year-to-date,” he said, noting that only 2021, a peak dealmaking year, surpassed these figures.

In addition to the flagship fund, Advent raised more than $3 billion for its new Advent International Mid-Market Private Equity Fund, further expanding its footprint in the private equity space. The firm’s ability to attract substantial investor backing in a difficult market underscores its strong reputation and focus on delivering consistent returns through successful portfolio management and asset exits.
