The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched a £2 million advertising campaign aimed at car finance customers who may be entitled to compensation. The campaign seeks to inform consumers that they do not need to engage claims management companies to pursue any claims.
Sheree Howard, executive director at the FCA, emphasized that the regulator provides free tools designed to help individuals confidently reclaim money owed to them without incurring any fees. The initiative forms part of the FCA’s efforts to support consumers and increase awareness of their rights in the motor finance sector.
By offering accessible resources, the FCA aims to reduce reliance on third-party claims firms that often charge fees for handling complaints, which could diminish the amount recovered. The campaign is intended to empower consumers to navigate the claims process independently.
This move follows concerns about some claims management companies making complaints more complicated or costly for consumers. The FCA’s outreach is part of a broader strategy to enhance transparency and consumer protection in financial services.
