An 18-year-old Afghan refugee pleaded guilty to murder and possession of a knife after traveling over 150 miles to kill a man following a family dispute. Sulaiman Tajzai was captured on CCTV purchasing a knife in a Leeds corner shop before making his way to London, where the fatal attack occurred.

The victim, 26-year-old Farmanullah Sherzad, was found with multiple stab wounds outside his home in Westminster on March 27. A member of the public discovered Sherzad injured and alerted authorities, but emergency responders were unable to save him.

Surveillance footage recorded Tajzai’s movements from the shop in Leeds to King’s Cross station in London, tracing his journey to the scene of the attack. Two days later, police arrested Tajzai at a cousin’s residence in Leeds.

Tajzai entered guilty pleas at the Old Bailey to charges of murder and carrying a knife. Sentencing is scheduled for Friday. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the nature of the family dispute prompting the attack.
