Nefesh B’Nefesh, a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating Jewish immigration to Israel from North America, celebrated a significant milestone on Sunday, marking the arrival of its 100,000th immigrant since its establishment 24 years ago.

The milestone was symbolized by six-year-old Amelia Douglas, who immigrated to Israel with her family earlier this month. The Douglas family, originally from New York, includes Amelia’s parents, Jeffrey and Atara, as well as her siblings, 10-year-old Netanel and 9-year-old Hallie. Amelia is scheduled to begin first grade in the upcoming school year.

To commemorate the occasion, President Isaac Herzog hosted the Douglas family at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem. The event also included Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer, along with Nefesh B’Nefesh founders Rabbi Yehoshua Fass and Tony Gelbart. Herzog acknowledged the significance of the milestone and the broader impact of the organization’s work.

“I am pleased to welcome the Douglas family to Israel, and especially six-year-old Amelia, who is the 100,000th immigrant to make aliyah to Israel through Nefesh B’Nefesh,” Herzog said at the event. He emphasized that the milestone represents not just a number but a series of personal stories of individuals and families choosing to establish their lives in Israel. “One hundred thousand immigrants are 100,000 stories of people who chose Israel, chose to build their home and their future here, and became part of the Israeli story,” he added.

Herzog also highlighted the Douglas family as a representation of the enduring connection between Jewish communities in the Diaspora and the State of Israel. The organization, founded in 1999, has played a central role in encouraging and facilitating aliyah—Jewish immigration to Israel—from North America by providing logistical, financial, and social support to new immigrants. Over nearly a quarter-century, Nefesh B’Nefesh has contributed to a steady increase in the number of North American Jews choosing to settle in Israel.

The arrival of the 100,000th immigrant marks a landmark moment for the organization and underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen ties between Israel and Jewish communities abroad. The celebration at the President’s Residence served both as recognition of personal journeys and as an affirmation of Nefesh B’Nefesh’s continuing mission to support aliyah processes in the years ahead.
