After connecting on a dating app in late 2020, Alison Rose Greenberg and Barry Alan Loudis took several months to meet in person, navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and their own personal histories before ultimately marrying in June 2025.
Greenberg, an author and screenwriter based in the Atlanta suburb of Dunwoody, initially used dating apps with a political purpose in mind—to support Jon Ossoff during the Georgia U.S. Senate runoff election. Her Bumble profile invited users to “Ask me about politics.” However, her encounter with Loudis’s profile marked a turning point. Noting details such as his natural appearance and his full head of hair, Greenberg found his profile relatable and engaging.
The two exchanged numbers within a week and began daily FaceTime calls. Their first face-to-face meeting took place in January 2021 after both tested negative for COVID-19, with Greenberg hosting at her home. They shared takeout while watching the University of Alabama’s victory over Ohio State in the college football national championship game, bonding over their shared experiences, including previous marriages and each raising two children. Neither intended to remarry at the time.
In 2021, Greenberg was working on her debut novel, “Bad Luck Bridesmaid,” which explores themes of marriage and personal growth, mirroring some of her own reflections. The couple formalized their relationship two months after meeting but faced a temporary break in September 2021, when Loudis expressed uncertainty about his ability to love following his divorce. After a five-week hiatus without contact, Loudis reached out, ultimately leading to a heartfelt reunion in which both exchanged “I love you” for the first time.
Greenberg, 42, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California and splits her time between writing original romantic comedies and adapting her novels “Bad Luck Bridesmaid” (2022) and “Maybe Once, Maybe Twice” (2023) for film. She has two children from a previous marriage, Zoey, 11, and Max, 14. Born in New York City, she was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, and Atlanta.
Loudis, 45, is president of Blackwing Advisors and owns Softek Awnings in Doraville, Georgia. A native of Springfield, Missouri, he graduated from the University of Kansas and has two children, Sloan, 13, and Saylor, 10.
The couple maintain separate residences in Atlanta—Greenberg in Dunwoody and Loudis in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood—with Loudis staying at Greenberg’s home when his children are with their other parent.
In April 2025, during a vacation in Surfside, Florida, Loudis proposed to Greenberg at the Champagne Bar of the Four Seasons hotel, where her parents live part-time. The proposal was a creative homage to Greenberg’s favorite film, “When Harry Met Sally . . . ,” featuring a personalized reading of a rewritten New Year’s Eve scene culminating in his marriage proposal, which she accepted.
Their wedding took place on June 6, 2025, at the bride’s parents’ residence in Atlanta. Rabbi Bradley G. Levenberg of Temple Sinai Atlanta officiated the ceremony.
