The Westin Kuala Lumpur has launched a berry-themed afternoon tea experience at its restaurant, The Living Room, featuring an array of sweet and savory treats inspired by fresh and dried berries. The offering is part of the hotel’s ongoing “Afternoon at Westin” series, designed to highlight seasonal ingredients and creative culinary presentations.

Pastry chef Gilbert Low and his team curated the menu to showcase berries in multiple forms, including house-made jams, smooth purees, and fresh fruit. Savory starters include selections such as Herb Cream Cheese Eclairs with Cherry Compote, Mixed Berry Tuna Tataki, and Cranberry Salsa Smoked Chicken Sandwiches. These are paired with a variety of desserts, which form the centerpiece of the experience.

Notable sweet items include Low’s signature Cherry Velvet Mousse, composed of a chocolate mousse base complemented by cherry jelly, with a design element inspired by the White Rabbit candy. Another highlighted dessert is the Strawberry and White Chocolate Bavarian Mousse, which incorporates strawberry mousse, white chocolate Bavarian cream, and almond nibs, reflecting the textures and flavors of Ferrero Rocher chocolates. The Raspberry Opera Cake, featuring raspberry ganache layered with peanut butter buttercream, caters to guests who enjoy nutty flavors.

Additional confections include Blueberry Frangipane Tart, Financiers with Mixed Berries Compote, and Berries Macarons, along with freshly baked Classic Butter and Cranberry Scones served with house-made strawberry jam and chantilly cream. Accompanying the tea selection is a pot of Dilmah floral tea, with the Ceylon Rose and Mint variant recommended to balance the sweetness of the pastries.

The afternoon tea set is priced at RM128 nett for two people and is available weekdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The launch coincided with a “Pink October” event organized in partnership with Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur, the Breast Cancer Welfare Association of Malaysia (BCWA), and Cancer Research Malaysia. The event featured breast cancer screenings for hotel staff and guests, alongside presentations outlining support services and research developments. Dr. Suraya Baharudin, a consultant oncoplastic and reconstructive breast and endocrine surgeon, underscored the importance of early detection during her talk.

As part of the campaign, customers who purchase the berry-themed afternoon tea set before October 30 will receive a RM50 voucher toward an ultrasound breast and 3D mammogram screening package at Gleneagles Hospital. Conversely, patients who complete breast screenings during the promotion period will be eligible for a 35% discount voucher for the afternoon tea set.

The Living Room is located on the upper ground floor of The Westin Kuala Lumpur, 199 Jalan Bukit Bintang, and operates daily from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
