According to data from software company Freshworks, 88% of IT decision-makers in the UK reported that handling AI-related challenges has elevated the demands placed on their teams.
The findings indicate that IT departments are dedicating approximately 25% of their AI-focused work hours to troubleshooting and addressing operational issues. This additional burden has been described by Freshworks as a “complexity tax,” highlighting the unintended consequences of implementing AI technologies in business environments.
Moreover, one-third of respondents characterized the complexity associated with AI as a “very significant issue,” underscoring widespread concerns about the difficulties posed by integrating and maintaining these advanced systems. The survey reflects a growing recognition that while AI tools promise efficiency gains, they simultaneously introduce new layers of technical challenges that require substantial attention.
