The Al Jazeera Media Institute (AJMI) recently celebrated the graduation of 14 trainees from its Television Presenting Diploma programme, aimed at preparing a new generation of television journalists and broadcasters. The programme, designed to equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, covered essential aspects of television presentation, including news anchoring, talk-show hosting, journalistic editing, vocal techniques, and Arabic language proficiency.

The diploma course was delivered by a team of seasoned trainers from the Al Jazeera Media Network, among them journalists Jalal Chahda, Elsie Abou Assi, Hassan Jamoul, and Qatari journalist Mohammed al-Marri. They were joined by trainers Ammar Yahya, Abdel Fattah Bouakkaz, and Dr. Ibrahim Mansour, who collectively provided comprehensive instruction and guidance.

In remarks addressed to the graduates, Abdullah Falah al-Saeed, director of AJMI’s Training Department, congratulated the cohort on completing the programme. He emphasized that successful television presenting demands more than on-camera presence; it requires thorough preparation, strong language skills, self-confidence, and professionalism in responding to diverse situations. Al-Saeed underscored that graduation signals not the end but the beginning of an ongoing process of learning and career development. He described exceptional presenters as individuals shaped by knowledge, credibility, and continuous professional curiosity.

Omar Akbash, speaking on behalf of the graduates, highlighted the varied backgrounds of the participants, noting the shared ambition that united them. “When we first arrived at this Institute, each of us brought a different background, some came from behind the microphone, others from the football pitch, and many from the corridors of law schools (though without ever practising the profession),” he said. “Yet, we all arrived sharing a common dream, one we had not yet had the chance to pursue.”

The programme reflects AJMI’s ongoing commitment to cultivating media professionals equipped to contribute to journalism and broadcasting across the region.
