Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) recently held an extensive breast cancer awareness session for its female employees in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, underscoring its dedication to promoting workforce health and wellbeing. The event took place in Kuwait City and brought together employees from various branches of the Bank.
The session was facilitated by a breast cancer survivor and included a presentation from Consultant Diagnostic Radiologist Dr. Shatha Al-Najdey, who provided detailed information on breast cancer’s risk factors, early warning signs, and the significance of early detection. Attendees received guidance on breast self-examination techniques and the importance of regular medical screenings. The event also incorporated health assessments such as vital sign monitoring, body mass index evaluations, and personalized nutritional consultations. Participants were encouraged to engage actively through a Q&A segment.
Additionally, ABK announced the winners of its ‘Walk for a Purpose’ challenge, a physical activity initiative designed to promote awareness of breast cancer prevention. Three female employees were recognized for their participation in the campaign.
Afrah Alarbash, General Manager of Human Resources at ABK, emphasized the institution’s commitment to fostering a supportive and health-conscious work environment. She characterized the session as part of the Bank’s broader strategy to prioritize employee wellbeing, arguing that investing in health awareness benefits both professional performance and personal quality of life. Alarbash urged female employees to adopt regular screening practices as a preventive measure to protect their health and positively influence their wider communities.
Highlighting the broader implications of the initiative, Alarbash noted that Breast Cancer Awareness Month serves not just as an annual reminder but as an opportunity to deliver an important health and humanitarian message. She explained that the program aims to equip participants with accurate medical knowledge to reduce risks, support early intervention, and improve recovery outcomes. The session was framed as an element of ABK’s ongoing efforts to integrate health education into its workplace culture, with plans to introduce additional programs focused on comprehensive healthcare.
Complementing the in-person event, ABK also ran a social media awareness campaign featuring a series of videos produced in collaboration with the ‘KouniQawiya’ breast cancer survivors’ team. These videos offered practical advice on managing the disease and promoting a healthy lifestyle, with the objective of lowering breast cancer incidence within the community.
